the course begins the day before, right in your inbox. We’ll send you the instructions for setting up your equipment and the preparatory exercises so that you’ll arrive on the day of the workshop ready to shoot.

What should you look for before heading out?
A highly visual class to get your camera or phone ready. It includes quick adjustments (zone focusing and minimum shutter speed) and practical tips for overcoming shyness and photographing respectfully.
Links and Inspirational Resources:
A carefully curated selection of web links and short videos optimized for mobile devices. The goal is for you to observe the body language of the great masters of photography: how far away they position themselves, how they anticipate the moment, and exactly when they decide to press the shutter button.
The Challenge Guide:
Your roadmap for the workshop day, with specific prompts to tackle during the walk (look for color contrasts, capture geometric silhouettes, human interactions, etc.).

We’ll address any technical questions from Saturday and conduct our first tests of adjustments and settings.
1:45 PM – 2:45 PM | Group Lunch
A break for lunch at a local restaurant (meal not included in the course price): the perfect opportunity to talk about the team, bond, and clear your mind before heading back out onto the streets.
2:45 PM – 6:30 PM | Afternoon Session: Continuous Practice and Challenges
Downtown Route: We head out onto the streets to complete the Challenge Guide on a continuous walking route. We start in the Chamberí neighborhood, pass through Malasaña, Gran Vía, and Callao, and finish in the Ópera neighborhood. Your mentor walks alongside you to correct your framing and answer any questions on the spot.

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Online Session: Review of Our Work
An online session to evaluate each participant’s footage, edit it, and consolidate ideas. A two-hour live class via Zoom covering editing workflows, using both free and professional tools.

Course Fee: € 140

The main goal is to overcome your fear of taking photos in public spaces and learn to anticipate the scene. By the end of the workshop, you’ll know how to set up your equipment to work quickly, how to find powerful compositions (by taking advantage of urban geometry, reflections, or harsh light and shadow), and how to tell a story in a single frame without letting technical considerations become a mental block.

The previous day’s online session via Meet or Zoom (theory and analysis).
Sunday’s practical session is a walking photo tour that starts in the city center (Chamberí, Justicia, Malasaña, Gran Vía, and Ópera).

The camera you usually use (DSLR, mirrorless, or point-and-shoot) or your cell phone if that’s your main device. It’s essential to bring comfortable walking shoes, a fully charged battery, and enough space on your memory card.

The workshop costs €140 (includes technical materials, inspirational resources, and the challenge guide). It is an intensive, full-day format (Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) with a one-hour lunch break, plus two online sessions: the Saturday before from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Sunday after from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The workshop is led by Martín Murcia Crescini, a photographer and specialist in visual language with more than 30 years of experience in street photography and teaching. He’ll guide you on location and teach you to see the city through a different lens, prioritizing your intent over your camera brand.

It’s not necessary. It’s designed for all skill levels: if you’re just starting out, it will help you get over your shyness about photographing strangers and understand the basic settings; if you already have some experience, it will help you step outside your comfort zone, discover new contemporary influences, and tackle challenges as a group.

Because we don’t give you a boring lecture. The workshop starts the day before via email so that on Saturday you can come straight to analyzing and shooting. Plus, we work with small groups (maximum 10 people) to ensure that your mentor is right by your side on the street, giving feedback on your photos in real time, rather than it being a large, passive group walk.
