TRAILS

In May 2017, a group of friends decided to start going on hikes with the intention of cheering up a friend who was going through a rough patch. That’s when the group we called “Yayos Hikers” was born.

What began as a casual activity has ultimately become a way for us to connect, strengthen our friendship, and feel the group’s support. The group has grown; we’ve met new people, formed new relationships, and made new friends—and to do so, we’ve hiked hundreds of trails. Yet our understanding of friendship hasn’t changed; that bond remains, as does the desire to support and rely on those we love.

SENDEROS was created as a tribute to all those hours spent together—as the poet said, “making a path as we walk”—to try to capture in images the life paths that bring us closer, walking side by side and offering a helping hand…

Javier Hernández has been a telecommunications engineer and photographer since 2002. He began his training in 2003 and 2004 at LOOK, the Spanish School of Photography. He recently earned a diploma in advanced photography studies from PIC.A (PhotoEspaña).
His photography is closely associated with hiking, one of his greatest hobbies, although he enjoys exploring other branches of photography, such as macro and commercial photography.
